If you use the new system for downloading audiobooks via the Isle of Wight library system you may have experienced problems with it recently.
VB reader, Kim Brown, got in touch at the weekend pointing out that the audiobook download system is not functioning correctly.
Kim explained that when a user tries to download, they get a message saying the book has not been checked out when it has.
How to circumvent the problem
She goes on to say that the problem can be circumvented by changing the regional date format on your computer to the US system of month, day then year.
As the helpline number for this system is not in the UK, Kim very kindly offered to share this information for the benefit of other VB readers.
Thank Kim, we’re sure that many will be very grateful.
We did contact the council for a comment, but at time of publishing we had not received a reply.
Update 10.03am 17/08/11: We have received this comment from the council
An IW Council spokesperson said “The company the council uses to provide audio books has in the last couple of weeks changed suppliers. Since this happened, there has been some technical difficulties with downloading some audio books. We have raised this issue with our provider which is trying to sort the problem with its supplier.
“The council is sorry that this may be causing inconvenience, but the situation is out of the council’s hands and is down to a third party. However, if anyone has any problems downloading audio books they are welcome to contact the library headquarters team on 01983 203880 for advice.”
