Thanks to Graeme for this latest report from Ventnor Cricket Club. Ed
At 195-4 (South Wilts skipper Tom Morton 53) with eight overs remaining, Ventnor had fought back well after an untidy start, but a blistering innings of 51 from Australian Ryan Duffield from only 24 deliveries pushed the score to a formidable 263-6.
Rob Snell was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 2-40 from an impressive ten over stint.
16 year old Ben Herridge impressed at the top of the Ventnor innings with hard grafted knock of 17 against an impressive attack, but once Australian Sean Willis departed for 21, only Snell with a determined, unbeaten 38 held up the visitors who won in convincing fashion.

Heavy loss for second team
The departure and absence of key players from the first eleven is having an inevitable impact on the club’s second team and Ben Woodhouse’s much weakened side were heavily defeated in the Hampshire League Division 1 encounter at Portchester on Saturday.
On a difficult pitch, Tom Stafford (18), Jacobus Hooneberg (20) and Ben Woodhouse (30) all made starts but an eventual total of 128 all out from only 31 overs was always going to be hard to defend.
Two early wickets gave the Islanders hope but 73 not out from Barnwell saw them home inside 27 overs.
Portsmouth & Southsea are the visitors to Steephill on Saturday at 1pm.
Convincing win for third team
Ian Hilsum returned to action with unbeaten century as Ventnor’s third team won their Hampshire League Division 4 East fixture with Solent Rangers II by 78 runs at Steephill on Saturday.
The former first team captain, who is having a break from Premier Division cricket, received support from Mark Price (41), Ali Cotton (26) and Dan Cox (29) in a total of 245-6 from 42 overs, a target the visitors never seriously threatened, despite 72 from Koshi.
Ben Attrill, Dan Cox, Hilsum and Charlie Freeston, lending his experience to the side, were all among the wickets as the Rangers reply ended on167 all out.
The side travel to Gosport Borough on Saturday.
