Ventnor were on the receiving end of two heavy defeats by a strong Havant side over the weekend.
In their British Gas Southern League Premier Divison clash on Saturday, the Islanders fought back well to restrict the home side to 257 after Havant had reached 174-2 from 30 overs, Hugh Calloway taking 5-36.
Any hopes the visitors harboured of a challenging response were undone by the loss of five early wickets at the top of the order, only Alex Glendenning with 27 holding up the hosts who went on to win by 173 runs, Ventnor managing just 84.
On Sunday at Steephill, Havant rattled up an enormous score of 420-7 in the third round of the Royal London Club Championship. Josh McCoy hammered 198 as the Ventnor bowlers toiled in the warm sunshine, George Willis and Marcus Toms each taking two wickets.
Ben Duggan (45), Alex Horton (40) Martin Blackman (35) and Hugh Calloway (41) all made starts for the home side who were never likely to threaten such a large total, eventually reaching 214.
Defeat for the second team
The second team slipped to a 37 run defeat against Bishop’s Waltham in Hampshire League Division 1.
Marcus Toms took 2-35 in the visitors total of 193-8, but despite 47 from Pierre Kriel and useful contributions from Ben Herridge (20), Ben Attrill (20) and James Attrill (21), the home side were dismissed for 156.
Welcome win at Curdridge
The third team clinched a 39 run win at Curdridge in Hampshire League Regional Division 3 South.
The side were rescued by Dave Cox, whose fine unbeaten innings of 86 enabled them to post 163-8 after being in deep trouble earlier in the innings.
Young Tom Leon was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with 5-15 to help bowl out the home team for 124.
T20 win at Northwood
Tom Stafford with 48 top scored for Ventnor whose total of 171-6 proved too many for Northwood who replied with 136-6 (Kerry Rice 48 not out) in the T20 League clash at Park Road.
