The Wightfishing Shore Competition for May took place on Saturday (28th May) in Shanklin and was won by Davey Bennett, who hooked the most species and heaviest fish.
Wightfishing competitions are fished at a single venue and a 10% weight bonus is given to encourage catch and release; all fish were returned to the sea on the night.
Topping the leaderboard
The previous month’s competition at Gurnard was won by Mike Hopwood who tops the leaderboard for 2011.
Every month forum members vote for their Fish of the Month.
The winners for March and April respectively were Ben Creaser with a 21lb boat caught Blonde Ray and Drew Garrett with a shore caught Bass of 9lb 12oz.
