A large, pro-interactive educational touch tablet has been donated to The David Hide Asthma and Allergy Research Centre at St Mary’s Hospital.
The Friends of St Mary’s donated £4,178 to fund the device which offers a welcome distraction for young people attending the centre.
Emily Reed, Research Nurse and Nurse Specialist has seen first-hand the benefits of having a large, mobile tablet to occupy young people while they are spending time at the Children’s Ward and thought it would be a great addition to the allergy centre waiting room.

Emily Reed said,
“Both interaction tablets have been kindly donated by the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital.
“It has helped to make the waiting room at the Asthma and Allergy Clinic more welcoming for the children and their families who attend our clinics.
“It provides vital distraction when it is needed. Thank you for all your help with funding the device.”
Rowen got to enjoy using the tablet while waiting at the centre. Andrea Edgson, Friends of St Mary’s Hospital Trustee, said,
“It was so lovely to meet Alex and Rowan and it was a ‘meant to be’ moment as when asked if they would like to be in the photo, Alex replied ‘it would be a pleasure’ as her step grandad was a Trustee of the Friends of St Mary’s before his passing.”
