As reported earlier in the week, three Isle of Wight councillors have applied to call-in the decision made by the Executive last week on the changes to parking charges.
Led by Cllr Blezzard and joined by Cllrs Hutchinson and Whitby-Smith, the decision has been called-in on the absence of evidence for the decision and inadequate consultation with stakeholders, partners or the public.
They say,
The decisions fail to fully take account of the representations received and do not fully take account of the views of the Scrutiny Committee. In addition there is a lack of reliable evidence to support the decisions.
The council Executive agreed last week a modest increase to parking charges, but also to remove free parking from 20 car parks across the Island, including Puckpool and Appley, as well as remove free afternoon parking from five towns.
A special meting of the Scrutiny Committee as been organised for 6pm Wednesday 23rd July to hear the call-in.
Members of the public are welcome to attend to hear the proceedings.
