Demolition notice issued for Yaverland’s ‘outdated public toilet block’

A notice to demolish Yaverland’s public toilet block has been submitted to the Isle of Wight council.

Plans were agreed by Sandown Town Council in February 2024 to provide new facilities at the popular site, opposite the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary.

The new unit — provided by Danfo — will be similar those it opened at Eastern Gardens, further round the Bay, but with a different facade.

The town council agreed in its budget for this financial year to include the provision for a £250,000 Public Works Board Loan to replace the toilets.

The toilets would have with one disabled cubicle and three standard unisex ones, with two external showers and work on the new toilet block is due to commence early October 2024 and should be completed by the end of the year.
