Londoner David Faulkner got in touch with VB recently.
He was hoping that our readers may be able to help with a query he has.
David tells us that he’s been researching his family history after his father passed away.
He discovered that his father was born in Ventnor and his grandparents had come to Ventnor in 1907 from London. Apparently he ran a boot-makers shop on Tulse Hill to 1934 and lived at ‘Newington’ on Mitchell Ave.
Did you know Newington?
David is keen to find out further information on exactly where the house named Newington is? He thinks that it may be numbered now, but as he’s never been to Ventnor isn’t quite sure.
Do any VB readers know of the house called ‘Newington’ on Mitchell Avenue and can shares some details? Perhaps you’re old enough to remember the book boot-makers on Tulse Hill.
If you do know anything, we’re sure that David would love to hear more. Perhaps enough to entice him to come for a visit one day!
