Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Newport on the Isle of Wight on Saturday (July 11).
The incident is alleged to have happened in Scarrots Lane, some time between 8pm and 9pm, when a man thought to be in his 50s tried to grab a 16-year-old girl’s handbag.
The victim held onto her bag and the suspect made off empty-handed. The girl wasn’t hurt in the incident.
This is thought to be an isolated incident.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or saw a white man, between 40-60-years-old, in the area at the time.
