The inaugural ‘Under the Bed Sale IW’ is taking place this February at Montage Place in Ryde and it is the perfect, affordable opportunity for people to start or continue their art collections.
The works for sale are all from exhibited artists currently working on the Island, many of whom have exhibited nationally and internationally, plus amongst them are several recipients of prestigious awards.
Purchase original artwork at a great, affordable price
This sale gives artists an opportunity to pull out artworks from storage and sell them off at reduced prices to help clear space in their studios …and heads!
Prices will range from £1 to £350 so the buying art lover has a chance to purchase original artwork at a great, affordable price.
A variety of mediums
There will be painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramics, plus experiments, slight seconds, sketchbook works, drawings, collage, cards, and objects that defy description – there’s something for everyone, all on show salon style and all for sale.
It’s a win, win for everyone – artists have an opportunity to move work on and the new owners get to walk away with a unique, original piece of artwork on the day.
A not-for-profit event
‘Under the Bed Sale IW’ is a not-for-profit event directly supporting artists and it is hoped that it will become an annual event in the Island’s creative calendar.
A group of active Island based artists – Fran Farrar, Fiona Schindler, Jill Wilkinson and Karen Mead – are now committed to successfully establishing this exciting event here on the Island at Montage Place in Ryde (formerly The Depozitory).
Farrar: Pick up a unique piece of original artwork
Fran Farrar one of the artist organisers, said,
“There’s a wealth of experienced, exhibiting artists on the Island who inevitably have lots of work in plan chests, lofts and yes, under their beds.
“We all have work that we have stored hidden away but that would be perfect in someone’s home. We’re feeling incredibly excited about the work that will be for sale so why not bring out your inner art collector and pick up a unique piece of original artwork?”
Where and when
Under the Bed Sale IW will be open to the public from 10am on Sunday 4th February.
It runs daily from 10am to 4pm (12.30pm to 4pm on Thursday 8th ) up to and including, Saturday 10th February.
Entrance is free, we just suggest that you think about which walls you want to fill in your home in advance.
