UPDATE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the dog show set to take place this coming weekend (July 26) has had to be postponed. We will be putting plans in place to re-arrange the event, and hope to have a new date soon. We’d like to thank everybody who helped us set up the event, and look forward to putting the event on at a date in the near future.
Following the successful Loom Band competition, held on July 5, St Thomas Square. The Roll Out The Barrel Trust (RoTB) will be awarding first prize to the winner at their next event – a dog show being held at Parkhurst Forest, 26th July.
More than 150 people turned up on the day, and more than 300 loom bands were created – and all are being sent to children in developing countries.
There was also a surprise visit from Island MP, Andrew Turner, who was only too happy to sit down and make his own loom band.

RoTB Dog Show
The Dog Show is the first in a number of events planned by Isle of Wight based charity The Roll out the Barrel Trust, to raise money to help cope with increasing demand for Rotary Water Barrels from Kenya, India and Zimbabwe.
The event has been organised by Anna Newton, Project Administrator at The Roll out the Barrel Trust, who said,
“All of us at Roll out the Barrel love dogs, so when we were thinking about the best way to raise money for the charity, we decided to do something we will enjoy.
“The idea of a dog show is an extension from our ‘Woof Festival’ from December last year, which was a great success, we had so much fun meeting all those dogs and cannot wait to meet even more in July.”
Adrian Brewer, CEO of The RoTB Trust added
“Each and every day we are being asked for help, and each and every day we offer to send Barrels out, saving thousands of lives in the process.”
Adrian continued,
“Just this week we have had requests from India and Kenya, and our aim is to provide barrels to communities in these countries without delay.”
