The next session of the Carers’ Forum on 11 February (1pm-3pm) at the Riverside Centre will be of particular interest to parents and carers of autistic people.
The Autism Act requires all local authorities to have a strategy to improve the lives of people who have autism and their carers.
Draft strategy to be presented
Ann O’Brien the IW Council’s lead officer on autism will be presenting the Council’s draft strategy on autism and will be inviting contributions from carers.
Later on in the meeting Southern Housing (in partnership with Fair Haven Housing Trust) will be presenting their plans to set up long term permanent residential provision for autistic adults.
This is a very important meeting for parents and carers of autistic people, please make every effort to attend.
