Earlier this morning (Sunday) public access to Ryde Pier was closed after a sailing yacht became wedged.
The vessel had become wedged under the Pier on Saturday night, after the yacht, which had a man and his dog on board, started drifting.
The Coastguard and Calshot RNLI lifeboat were involved in rescuing the man and his dog from the stricken yacht.
Pier closed
Wightlink announced the closure at 9.09am Sunday morning, as there was concern about the structure’s safety.
However, by 9.30am their teams had removed the stricken yacht, assessed the situation and reopened the Pier to vehicles.
