Thanks to Marianne for this news from the Hospice, in her own words, Ed
Earl Mountbatten Hospice (EMH) has just achieved a half century with over 500 volunteers generously giving of their valuable time and skills.
Due to the future retirement of some Trustees the Hospice is now in a position to invite new volunteers to join the Board of Trustees. Surprisingly, volunteers can be found throughout the entire Hospice at many levels and in many areas.
Trustees play fundamental role
Our Trustees play a unique and fundamental role within the Hospice, accountable not only to the Charity Commission for the governance and strategic direction of EMH, but also stakeholders – our patients, supporters, staff and other organisations.
They work alongside the Chief Executive, Tina R Harris, in promoting the mission and values of the Hospice. Without them we simply could not provide vital services and develop future initiatives for people on the Island who are living with, and dying from, life-limiting illnesses.
Your chance to be involved
The chance to be part of such a progressive organisation within its field, and at this level, is rare.
EMH is enormously proud of the unique range of services it provides, in addition to the staff and volunteers, and relishes the search for new Trustees, looking to appoint in September.
Overwhelmed by volunteers’ involvement
Tina Harris, Chief Executive says, “Our volunteers are at the heart of Earl Mountbatten Hospice and we are overwhelmed that more than 500 people are willing to give us their time to help provide care and support for the Island community.
“Members of the Board who are due to retire in the future have provided leadership and dedication in determining the overall direction of our much-valued Hospice. Being able to invite new Trustees to join our Board will allow us to continue our growth and make a positive and significant impact on the lives of people living with and dying from life-limiting illnesses on the Isle of Wight.”
Exceptional individuals looking to join the Board of Trustees and share their valuable skills and experience can contact Tina Harris directly on 01983 529511 to find out more about the role.
