Short diversions will be in place on Medina Way, Newport, during the first part of Sunday morning (19th May 2024) to allow Island Roads to carry out grass cutting.
The cutting work will take place between 6am and 10am on both lanes during which southbound traffic will be diverted via Dodnor and Riverway with vehicles re-joining the dual carriageway at the Curry’s slip road.
Reducing impact on road users
Northbound traffic will be diverted by the Lidl slip road and roundabout via Hunnycross Way and Hunnyhill.
Island Roads is carrying out the work on a Sunday morning to reduce impact on road users.
The diversion routes are frequently used during Medina Way maintenance and, given the day and time of works, Island Roads is not anticipating significant delays for traffic during the diversion.
“Never a ‘right time’ to close Medina Way”
An Island Roads spokesman said,
“There is never a ‘right time’ to close Medina Way, even for a short period, but we hope that by starting the work at 6am and finishing by 10am we will reduce the impact on road users as much as we can.”
