Cowes RNLI lifeboat was tasked to go to three separate incidents in the sun-drenched Solent on Saturday, all involving pleasure boats with engine trouble.
The first call out occurred at 3.50 pm, when the engine of the 17 foot motorboat Sea Spray, with one man aboard, was reported to be emitting smoke in Thorness Bay.
When the lifeboat, helmed by Max Rimington, arrived on the scene the engine was judged to have overheated, and the boat was towed by the lifeboat back to its Cowes mooring in the River Medina.
Rescue for Ocean Wave
Then at 6.40 pm the lifeboat was requested to go to the aid of a 40 foot yacht, Ocean Wave two miles north-west of Cowes.
It could not proceed under sail through lack of wind and it had engine trouble. While proceeding to the scene, however, the lifeboat, helmed by Simon Hawkins, was informed that they were not needed after all, as the yacht had been taken in tow by another craft.
But as the lifeboat was returning to Cowes, Solent Coastguards asked it to attend to the motorboat Cherry Mum that had engine trouble in Thorness Bay, with one person on board.
Again, though, before the lifeboat arrived the motorboat was taken in tow by another craft.
