Exclusive Moana 2 screening for Girlguiding Isle of Wight at Ryde’s Commodore

On Sunday 8th December Girlguiding members from across the Island enjoyed a trip to The Commodore Cinema, Ryde, to see Disney’s latest animated adventure film, Moana 2, at an exclusive screening.

Girlguiding nationally has a partnership with Odeon Cinemas, but with none of these on the Island, the Commodore stepped up to enable local girls and their leaders to join, in spirit, with over 50,000 Girlguiding members who were viewing the film at 99 Odeon cinemas across the UK in a mass screening.

In the film, after receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys alongside Maui and a new crew to the far seas of Oceania. Together, they travel to dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced.

Exclusive screenings
These exclusive screenings are just one of the many opportunities Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers- girls and young women aged 4-18 have in Girlguiding enabling them to have fun and adventure.

These trips provide a special and memorable day out with Girlguiding friends, celebrating friendship and inspiring adventures.

Stone: They make for a really exciting day out
Linda Stone, Island Commissioner, said,

“We had such a wonderful time watching Moana 2 with all our Guiding friends from across the Island.

“We love having the opportunity to attend these special screenings, they make for a really exciting day out.

“I would like to thank all the Commodore staff for welcoming us and Gude leader Helen Sparling for making all the arrangements for the 300 + members who attended”

Brownies on the red carpet
At the Odeon screenings a unique trailer was shown ahead of the film featuring footage of Brownies Isabella and Emilia on the red carpet interviewing cast members and celebrities at the official London premiere of the film.

Two other Brownies Luna and Amy had a once in a lifetime opportunity of meeting and interviewing actress Auliʻi Cravalho, who voices Moana when she attended a press gathering.

More to come
At the end of the interview Auli’i hinted that there will be more to come from Moana’s story, and the Brownies presented her with her very own Motunui-themed badge which has been created for Girlguiding members to mark the event in true Girlguiding style.
