The family of Holly Thomas has started a fundraiser to help cover the costs of her funeral and wake, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and celebrate her life. Holly’s daughter, Beth, shared heartfelt words about her mother’s lasting impact and the deep loss her family now feels.
The fundraiser was created in response to offers of support from those who knew Holly and wanted to contribute. Beth explained that with Christmas approaching and finances tight, the family is seeking help to ensure Holly receives the heartfelt send-off she deserves.
A place to gather and remember
In the GoFundMe appeal Beth writes about the importance of having a venue for the wake, describing it as a space for those who cared for Holly to come together, grieve and share memories. She emphasised her mum’s unique nature, saying,
“She really was one of a kind. The hole she has left behind is indescribably huge.
“I am still in complete disbelief and I miss her so much.”
The family also hopes to use the funds to place a bench at Holly’s favourite beach, creating a meaningful spot where her grandchildren and others can visit to remember her.
Gratitude for support
Beth expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and kind words the family has received, saying Holly cherished the people in her life deeply. She reassured those unable to donate not to feel bad, recognising the financial pressures many face at this time of year.
As of now, the fundraiser has raised £1,285 towards its £3,000 target. Every contribution, big or small, will help the family honour Holly’s memory and create a lasting legacy for her loved ones.
How to help
For those wishing to contribute, donations will go towards the wake and the commemorative bench. Beth, along with her brothers Barny and Fred, and Holly’s grandchildren Eli, Melody and Auri, extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support during this challenging time.
In Beth’s own words,
“Thank you so much for the love and kind words to our family and about our amazing mum.
“She loved you all so much.”
