Acoustic Originals is back tonight and has a bonkers lineup. Free entrance. Ed
Following on from the success of March’s inspiring performances we have another bumper line-up for April featuring Duncan Jones, Roland Lucas, a muti-instrumentalist who plays guitar, sax, keyboards, drum programming and arranging and composing. His influences include jazz, pop, rock, country, blues and Latin, he will be accompanied by his brother, Bob Lucas on back up guitar.
Revenge of the Lawn are back with their eccentric approach claiming their ‘music is as sweet as vinegar’, evoked by the clumsy trumpet of Musician, the cheap bass of Baptist, the up-tight and awkward rolling drums of Quaker, through the familiar stringman Ranter and sister Prick-Ear’s vocals, delivered at his un-sexy, barking, bawdy best.
Add to this the tantrum-like sax of Rattle-head with the cruel, harsh piano fumblings of Self-Seeker, and the result is a breath, or more accurately, a sigh of excitingly cliched air, tainted with the inhibited odour of the most mundane of rock ‘n’ roll traditions.
Also James Chorley who was recently short-listed in the first Red Hot Talent competition and well-known Jamie Griffin plays guitar, mandolin, harmonica with impressive vocals. His influences are Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Elton John and his nan!
Plus Cephaladige (formerly known as Cephalapod (aka Joe Cauldwell) will be playing his didgridoo and djembe drum.
Doors open: 7pm Entry is Free, so come along, have a beer or a glass of wine and enjoy this popular evening hosted by Quay Arts Director Mick Smith.
