The Development Suite at The Liquid Lounge brings us something very special this Sunday.
First up on are The Elusive Project (not pictured). You might not’ve heard of them yet as they are a fairly new act, hailing from the Island’s music college Platform One.
The band members are Claydon Connor on vocals, guitars and keyboards, Damon Gerrad on guitars, Ian Manning (otherwise known as Blinky) on drums and percussion with a touch of backing vocals and on the old faithful bass, Tom Farren- bass who throws in some additional backing vocals.
Platform One has had a bit of a battering from a minority of readers recently, but whatever your view, one thing is for sure, they keep on knocking out quality bands so they must be doing something right!
Topping the bill at The Liquid Lounge on Sunday will be Fatal (pictured above). They were due to play at Shindig last Saturday but when it had to be suddenly postponed, they shifted over to a gig at The Studio.
From over the water and up in the big smoke, Fatal certainly have their Island connections. Within the band, you’ll find Andy Gray, who wrote the theme to Big Brother and film scores to Swordfish and Timecop II.
I haven’t seen them play live, but judging by the comments left on their MySpace page, they know how to deliver the goods and are definitely worth heading up to Ryde for on Sunday night.
Let’s not forget that these nights at generally FREE. Yes, folks, free. Put enough in your pocket to buy a couple of drinks and make your Sunday nights more interesting.
Support your Island venues and support the people who make it happen. Without them, there’d be nothing like this. Just frustrated island musicians making music in their bedrooms and the rest of us watching Big Brother (never!).
