The fourth and final round of this year’s Pat Death Summer Series was held on Sunday 9th August at Sweetwater Brook, Calbourne.
Young riders
Young Alfie Haydon rode a blinder in the Youth Small Wheel class, dropping just 12 marks, on his way to another ten points in the Summer Series – keep up the good work Alfie.
It was good to see Mathew Power back riding, following a few technical issues with his bike, in the Youth Beginners. Harvey Grieve who took the win from Matt with another solid performance.
The Club would like to welcome new member James Craven. James did very well at his first attempt and despite riding unopposed posted a good score on the tricky course. We hope to see him at future events.
Twin Shock class
The Twin Shock class was convincingly taken by Nick Symes, who went round with the lowest total, dropping just four marks – good effort Nick.
The novice class was fought between Paul Kent and Brian Brockwell, it was Paul who took the spoils – just six marks between them.
Ray Power finished in a creditable third place. Wayne Brodie thought it wise to retire – after being dumped over the handlebars, hitting the ground hard on section seven, he did however avoid landing in the brook – this time!
The well contested Clubman class was very close – Mark Gray finished in top spot from Stuart Gummer, section one proved to be the difference here. Andy-Scott Jackson did just enough to stay ahead of Geoff Taylor, finishing in third. Only seven marks separated these four!
Will West sealed his bid for this year’s Summer Series with an outstanding effort on the expert course, dropping just eight marks. Good effort, as always Will.

Next meet
The next Club trial will see the restart of the main Winter Championship. Sunday 23rd of August at 12 noon.
