For pupils achieving 5+ A*-C grades the figure was higher at 56.3%. This is eighth lowest in England (average 63.8%).
Things improve a little when ‘Any GCSE passes’ are included, with the Isle of Wight – 97% – rising to 17th in England (average 97.7%), above Portsmouth (96.%), which is tenth.
It’s worth noting that across the UK GCSE results are down.
