Since news came out a couple of weeks about about the appeal for Lottie Rann, the eleven year old from Niton paralysed by Meningitis and desperate to get home to the Island to be with her family, there has been a groundswell of support from the Isle of Wight community.
Indeed, the Rann family are overwhelmed by the amount of support they are receiving from the Island community.
Over £770 in personal donations
OnTheWight are told that Maureen Rann has received £770 from people in the community, with donations posted personally through her door in Godshill.
One particularly exceptional donation was made by a Mr Brian (Oscar) Stretch who donated £450 to the Lottie Rann Trust. Oscar raised the money from the Christmas lights outside his house in Lake and decided to donate the collection to the Trust.
The recent coffee morning in Niton was a huge success.
Fundraising events
A number of events have been organised to raise funds and awareness for the Trust.
If you can’t make any of the above, there are collection tins in all the Spar shops on the Island.
Several schools have held Mufti Days to raise money and Broadlea Primary are in the process of organising a Danceathon and St. Francis Primary in Ventnor are sending all their children home with Smarties boxes for them to bring back with money for Lottie.
