Island Line Trains were subject to delays this morning after what they describes as the “shoe gear” on a train caught fire.
The problem caused delays on the line for many commuters but SW Trains say the service was resumed by 8.15am.
Update 9.30am: Islandline Trains got in touch to fill out the detail for us.
Apparently the problem took place on the 5.47am train from Ryde to Shanklin. Ice on the conductor rail near Sandown caused the train to arc, which led to the shoe beam becoming burnt out.
There was one passenger on board and no-one was hurt.
Thanks To Lana Turner for the heads-up.
