Following the news revealed yesterday that the full council will once again be discussing the proposal move of the fire control centre, the Fire Brigade Union (FBU) have been in touch.
Following the delegated decision by Cllr Barry Abraham to move the fire control centre to Surrey, the FBU have provided VB with a copy of a new leaflet currently being distributed around the Isle of Wight.
If you’ve not seen a copy of this leaflet yet, see the embedded version below, which you can also download and print out.
16 page leaflet
The 16 page leaflet provides details of the council’s consultation, information about public and firefighter safety and the risks involved with moving the control centre off the Island.
It also has technical details about automated caller location technology and highlights the problems associated with pinpointing VoIP 999 calls (more to come on this shortly).
It outlines some of the alternatives to moving the control centre, details costs and concludes with a breakdown of the Fire Brigade Union’s main concerns.
