Those following our Twitter and Facebook feeds will have seen the news earlier tonight of a fire at a block of flats in Ventnor.
The Isle of Wight Fire Service were called to the fire at Clarendon Court in Pound Lane 5.31pm, initially sending three pumps, one from Ventnor, one from Newport and one from Ryde. Eventually they needed seven engines and a skylift to fight the fire.
All residents were evacuated from the building and we understand are being looked after in a nearby church.
