Fireworks at Ventnor Towers Hotel on Saturday

Cowes FireworksThanks to Catherine at the Ventnor Towers Hotel in Madeira Road for alerting us that fireworks are planned for next Saturday night (13th)

If you live nearby and have pets, do make sure you keep them in on both evenings.

We look forward seeing the displays. If you have any announcements to make to the Ventnor and Island community, do get in touch.

Ryde Trades Council is indeed appreciative of the independent journalism of the Ventnor Blog over the years.

We give you our best wishes and long may it continue.

I only found VB by accident- it has been a wonderful way of getting discussions going, many of which would never have got past the editor of a certain weekly publication! Thanks for helping to help the freedom of expression. Keep it up and long may you prosper

As Iam unable to write a LITTLE paragraph on my thoughts of VB, I sent answers to the six questions asked.

I do hope others that find it difficult to put their thoughts into words do the same.

I love VB.xxx

VB is an example of what journalism should be.

Many so called reputable papers should take a leaf out of your book.

What makes it so special is that you who run it, clearly hold true journalistic principles dear, & your decency… Read more »

This site has added a new dimension to Island communications and governance and enabled people to become involved and to comment in ways unimagined just a few years ago. We have the freedom to respond to issues immediately and, generally, is it a ‘soapbox’ and safety valve, occasionally groundbreaking and thought provoking. It appeals to the ‘man (or woman) in the street’ who feels it belongs to… Read more »

VB has helped me in many ways, not least of which is that it helps to keep me sane by comparing my views with others.
VB is good at supporting local events and causes; VB gets information out fast and is often the only source; the standard of journalism is to be respected; VB often takes a different, and demanding, editorial line which is healthy for the Island.

With the backing from Benyoun, Brown and Giles, I believe many of these pathetic decisions being taken by the council are probably being thought up by Pugh. This despicable career minded man is only concerned about one thing and that is to become a future Tory MP. By cutting public services and selling buildings etc, he is obviously trying to impress his Tory masters in Whitehall he… Read more »
