The Environment Agency have issued a flood alert for the Eastern Yar.
They say,
Flooding is possible for the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge . Low lying land and roads will be affected first.
Be prepared.
A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for midnight tonight to 0300 tomorrow Tuesday 25 August. We have seen a total of 30mm of rain fall over the Eastern Yar catchment in the last 12 hours.
The forecast estimates that another 15 to 20mm may fall over the next 6 to 12 hours. River levels have responsed steadily to the rainfall and with the current forecast should peak around late evening tonight. Flooding of low lying land and roads is likely with the majority of impacts seen in the upper reaches of the Eastern Yar catchment such as at Arreton, Alverstone and Langbridge.
