The Environment Agency has today (Sunday) issued two flood alerts for the Isle of Wight.

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Gurnard Luck.
They say,
“Flooding is possible for the Gurnard Luck, Gurnard. Low lying land and roads will be affected first.
“Be prepared.
“Following very heavy rainfall this morning river levels in the Gurnard Luck are high. Although levels are now falling, the river level will increase for a couple of hours over the high tide period which is expected at Cowes at 1800hrs. At Marsh Road, properties close to the river may experience garden flooding at this time.”
The first flood alert, at 12.30pm, was for the Eastern Yar.
They say,
“Flooding is possible for the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge . Low lying land and roads will be affected first.
“Be prepared.”
The alert goes on to say,
Following days of persistent and heavy rainfall out of bank and road flooding is expected through the Eastern Yar valley.
Today (Sunday), impacts will be greater in the upper reaches where access tracks at Horringford and Golf Links Road could be flooded.
At Alverstone, from early evening onwards, the river level will probably rise high enough to back up at the main road bridge.
In Sandown, impacts are expected from very late evening and into tomorrow, when caravan parks may experience flooding to land.
The Flood Alert will be updated on Monday 4th January at 1200 hours.
