Late last night (Thursday) the Environment Agency issued a Flood Alert for the Isle of Wight coast.
An automated alert (due to industrial action) read:
Flooding is possible in this area.
Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.
The Environment Agency Flood Warning System has issued this message based on rising river or tidal levels.
There are reports of flooding on some Isle of Wight roads, so advice is to drive or cycle carefully if you are using the roads today.
