Two independent East Cowes businesses are hoping to swap shops to keep business booming.
In applications to the Isle of Wight council, Coast to Castle estate agents and Joker Jacks tattoo studio are looking to change the use of the other’s respective premises.
All change
It would see the tattoo studio move from the corner property on Ferry Road, into a shop opposite their original home in the town on York Avenue.
The estate agents, which currently sits next to the former library, would move into the corner shop that used to be an office for rivals, Watson Bull and Porter.
No real impact to either property
SJC Planning, acting on behalf of both businesses, said there was no real impact to either property or the wider area, but gives the chance for them to provide more efficient and effective services to their clients.
The planning agents say while Coast to Castle has a great base for business it has now outgrown its current premises and business growth is becoming restricted.
The move of the tattoo shop allows for a more functional space with a separate reception area to the workroom.
Ensures both buildings remain economically active
The swap, they say, ensures both buildings remain economically active and contribute positively to East Cowes town centre, while giving the businesses the opportunity to adapt and strengthen their offer.
Neither property needs any physical changes apart from the shop fronts and signs.
