It’s hard to avoid the Football World Cup at the moment (unless you frequent The Crab & Lobster which has been deemed a football free zone – hurrah!) and England may have scored two goals last week against ….. well … I can’t remember who, because I don’t really have much interest in it, but this weekend the England Beach Football team slogged it out in Greece resulting in a 2-2 tie.
The Englishmen were still excited about their first win of the season, last week, when they scored 4-3 and frustrated the favorite Polish team that ended up losing the Poddebice title at home. Against a Greek team to whom they had lost 4-8 in Poland, England showed a fierce mindset and picked up right where they had left. “It is a fantastic result for us. It has been a while since the last time we had won two matches in a row and most of all we knew that this win was crucial in order to achieve our goal of qualifying for Austria, said head coach Chris Attwood, eager to see his team play in the EBSL Group B Final, in Saint Pölten, from 14 to 16 July.
You might recognise a few familiar faces from Ventnor/IW in the team photo above.
Their next match is at the T-Mobile Cup event in Birmingham next weekend (23-25 June). Good luck lads.
