Shake up your wake up – free sporting activities followed by a great local breakfast.
Isle of Wight residents are invited to enjoy free sporting activities before tucking in to a tasty breakfast of Island produce during Farmhouse Breakfast Week (24 – 30 January).
On the morning of Saturday 29 January West Wight Sports Centre at Freshwater will welcome around 250 people to its free “come and try sports session” before serving them a free Island Breakfast of a bacon roll, sausage bap or scrambled eggs. The event is supported by the NFU and Natural Enterprise.
Take part in free activities
Free activities on offer include Zumba, Lane swimming, Circuit training and a Five-a-side football competition. Check Events OnTheWight for details of timings.
Laurie Calloway, Chairman of the Isle of Wight NFU said “National Farmhouse Breakfast Week is a great way for the NFU to highlight the wide variety of breakfast produce available which has been grown by farmers here on the Isle of Wight. I know our local food tastes superb and I look forward to hearing the comments back after this breakfast event”.
Clare Griffin, Manager of the West Wight Sports Centre added “It really will be a ‘shake up your wake up’ morning with all the sporting activities taking place followed by a great breakfast. We look forward to seeing lots of people take advantage of this opportunity to try some of our classes and to eat a locally produced breakfast. Breakfast is such an important meal of the day; it can benefit our energy and concentration levels – so it shouldn’t be missed”.
Check out the farm shop
A farm shop will also be set up at the Sports Centre in the morning, selling locally grown Isle of Wight produce and the NHS, through their Change 4 Life programme are providing the trophy to the winning five-a-side football team.
