A couple of weeks ago Kerith West Wight and Freshwater Methodist Church came together to launch two new initiatives in the West Wight.
Revive Cafe is a drop in space for people to come and have a hot drink and a chat with other members of the community. It is open from 2pm to 4pm every Monday at Freshwater Methodist Church.
Free eight-week course
They have also launched Life Skills, a free eight-week course from Christians Against Poverty (CAP).
This currently starts at 2pm and finishes around 2.30pm and runs as part of Revive Cafe, participants can grab a drink and then join us upstairs (a lift is available).
Life Skills looks at ways to help you live well on a limited budget, including money management and cutting costs.
Thomas: Will help empower people
Freshwater Parish councillor, Natalie Thomas, is currently enrolled on the eight-week course and said,
“This is such an important course to enroll on, especially with the increasing fuel costs and overall cost of living.
“It will help to empower people in the community.”
Natalie added,
“With the Universal Credit cuts now taking force it is really important we learn how we can manage our money better.
“I am someone who works part-time and I rely on Universal Credit to top up my income. I along with many Islanders will now feel the added strain financially.”
