Things have been busy busy for the organisers of the forthcoming FreeQuay event.
Being brought to you by Radio Soma, the team who brought you shopping Trolley and Quay Arts, Freequay is a week long exhibition and collection of events being held at Quay Arts in Newport.
The ‘big night’ is now confirmed for the 14th July. The evening kicks off at 6pm with a short film and animation screening. Showing some of the finest regional shorts, including work by Southampton digital artists’ ‘NuWave‘ and Ninja Tune Animator, Tom Hicks
That will last for an hour and on at 7pm is Russell Richards, bringing you sound interactive animation and a live Jazz performance
He gets an hour to impress us and afterwards at 8pm Nuwave perform a live visual edit with DJ TS (Dubstep, electronica).
Kick back or take part at 9pm, when the Jam Lounge opens. Decks, Drums, Piano, Guitar (acoustic and electric) and anything you wish to bring with you! All experienced musicians are invited to take part in this open jam.
Other audio visual surprises include ‘the Faust Cycle’ by Ergo Phizmiz, paper sculpture by ‘Janice Thwaites’, light installations, graphics by Toxic, Illustration and lots more!
Tickets will be priced at £3.50 – a real bargain in my eyes. Should be a great night of entertainment and there’s a couple of other gigs you can go onto afterwards (details to follow soon).
