If you’re confused about all the different information regarding fuel efficiency and renewable energy then come to Future Energy events during October half term week (27th to 31st October).
The aim is to offer some help to householders facing high energy bills.
Businesses will also have an opportunity to find out ‘Energy Options, Profits & Savings’ from Business Link on Friday 31 October at the Riverside Centre at 1.30pm, as part of the wider event.
The Footprint Trust is to hold three Future Energy events at different venues – giving island-wide coverage. Experts will be on hand to give guidance on modern heating systems, insulation and renewable energy for the home. Information on free offers for cavity wall and loft insulation will be promoted.
Local Businesses marketing modern wood burners, heat pumps and solar thermal systems and wind technology will be available for advice. CORGI heating specialists will be present.
The Footprint Trust will also be attending the event to offer detailed guidance on how best to save energy in your home and cost-effective options for renewable energy.
The Trust will be giving away low-energy lamps and save-a-flush bags.
The dates and venues are as follows;
Monday 27th October West Wight Sports Centre, Freshwater
Wednesday 29th October Ryde Theatre, Lind Street, Ryde
Friday 31st October Riverside Centre, Newport Quay
Each event will run from 11am to 4pm
IW Age Concern and Anchor Staying Put will provide information on grants and other assistance available. Trading Standards will be present along with the Pension Service, who will be giving guidance on pensions and benefits.
Speaking for the Footprint Trust, Ray Harrington-Vail said,
“During the day, information will be available on insulating homes, modern heating systems and renewable energy. Grants are available for homeowners to modernise their heating systems and insulate their homes and we will be there to explain the details.”
“There are many low cost and no cost ways of saving energy and we welcome this opportunity of meeting local people at the three venues”¦”
All the events are free and open to everyone. The Riverside Centre is wheelchair accessible. Funded by the Footprint Trust’s Big Lottery supported Warmahome project with support from the IW Council.
