Go Orange Day Raises Thousands For Independent Lifeboats

Last Friday saw the nationwide Go Orange for Independent Lifeboat Day take place.

Go Orange Day Raises Thousands For Independent LifeboatsMichaela White from Ryde Inshore Rescue did an amazing job of promoting the campaign across the Island.

Her hard work certainly paid off, because figures raised so far by each of the three independent lifeboat stations on the Island amount to thousands of pounds.

From Go Orange Day alone, Ryde has already collected over £4,200 but are hoping once all monies are in that they will reach around £5,000.

Sandown have around £3,000 but are expecting a total of £3,500.

Finally, Freshwater’s collections currently stand at £1,740 with another £500 expected.

Michaela told VB, “The event exceeded all our expectations with regards to how successful it was considering it was the first year, and I would like to thank everyone who supported us whether they be the public that donated, the media that provided such good coverage and the crew and helpers that carried out the event and volunteered such a large amount of time towards the cause.

“After the success, next year’s event will be held on Friday 18th February 2011 so don’t throw your orange stuff away!”

Well done to everybody who took part in fund raising activities or helped draw attention to the campaign.
