Godshill public footpath closure extended due to adverse weather conditions

The closure of public footpath in Godshill has been extended to the end of November, due to recent bad weather.

GL28, which runs across Central Mead between School Road and the Old Smithy car park, Godshill was temporarily closed from Monday 5th August 2024 and was due to reopen yesterday (31st October).

The footpath is now anticipated to reopen at the end of November 2024.

Completion of construction work
The Isle of Wight council say the closure is required in the interest of public safety, to allow works to take place as approved under planning permission (21/00385/FUL).

This work includes the demolition of existing ‘pavilion’ building; Proposed community centre together with driveway and car parking; proposed play area (pictured); footpath network together with upgrading of driveway from High Street into Central Mead.

During the closure, the alternative route will be School Road, High Street and Old Smithy car park.

Any questions should be directed to Godshill Parish Council.
