On Saturday 5th March some of team Brotherhood MMA (mixed martial arts) traveled to Brighton for two different events.
Coach Connor Tymon fought in MMA at Victory Fights at Moulscoombe Leisure Centre, with fellow Wrestling coach and brother, Kalon Tymon, Muay Thai coach Colin Lions and BJJ coach Andy Law in his corner.
Connor fought a tough fighter and was dropped at the beginning of round one. However, he bounced straight back up and applied the pressure continuously until the fight was stopped at one minute and 14 seconds, with Connor winning by TKO.
Both fighters showed nothing but heart and true respect for each other.
BJJ Brighton Spring Open
Earlier in the day, Andy Law and the Jiu Jitsu team attended the BJJ Brighton Spring Open at Hilton Brighton Metropole, all working hard and showcasing their skills.
Of the event, Andy says,
“Luke Nigh: Gi – won first two very convincingly but came up against a tough opponent in his third and lost on points. Nogi – won his first two convincingly again, but then came up against the same opponent that just had the better of him again and he lost on points.
“Liam Ingram: Gi – Won both of his fights convincingly to take gold. Nogi – lost in the final to take silver to a tough opponent after a good back and forth battle.
“Corey Kent: Gi – after a rocky start in his first round he managed to win his first three matches, but was pipped on points and just missed out on gold in the final and took home a well earned silver. Nogi – Won his first two fights by submission and was well on his way to winning gold in the final with a good points lead but got caught with an arm bar and had to settle for silver.
“Damian Kowalski: Gi – A tough first round in the gi and lost out by a narrow margin on points. At this level the slightest advantage can be enough and is tough to get back. Nogi – Damian (pictured at very top of article) stepped up against a friend of the club and the two men had a good back and forth with Damian coming away with the gold.
“All four of the guys put in great performances and I couldn’t be any prouder of the effort that they have put in to prepare for the competition and also how they conducted themselves on the day.”
A very busy year for Brotherhood MMA

Luke Nigh made his MMA debut at this show, showcasing amazing takedown defence and even more amazing striking. This fight was stopped five seconds before the end of round two, with Luke winning by TKO.
