I’ve just finished adding some new Jazz gigs (looks like Geri’s been keeping busy) to the events diary and really excited to see the return of The Gramophone Party to Ventnor.
We were lucky enough to see them play at the IW Jazz Festival back in April and were stunned by their brilliance. It’s great to see that they’ll be closing the show for Jazz in the Park.
The Gramophone Party are an all Island band made up of JC on all manner of instruments (including a really cute hawaiian ukulele) & Angelina on (velvety) vocals and acoustic guitar, Paul Armfield on double bass and the spectacular Rupert Brown on drums.
The IW Jazz Festival was their first appearance together, with none of the pieces rehearsed beforehand. You’d never have guessed, they seemed to fit so well together and were lucky enough to have amazing Jack Tait playing with them then, but sadly it doesn’t look like he’ll be around for the park gig.
They were so popular at the IW Jazz Festival that they’ve since been booked for the Brecon Jazz Festival too.
Taking place on Sunday 27th August, it’s an all day event starting at noon and running til 8pm. Tickets are just a fiver for the whole day and all proceeds go to Patient Care at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Pray for a sunny day and pack your suncream.
