A lovely afternoon was had by all yesterday, as we enjoyed a picnic in Ventnor Park whilst Island musicians, The Guy Page Trio provided the musical entertainment.
We’re big fans of the GPT which consists of Guitarist Guy Page, Drummer Chris Jones, and Bassist Tom Farren. We thought their performance yesterday was the best yet. Each time we hear them play, their set gets tighter and tighter.
We’ve previously likened them to the Durutti Column, but they certainly have their own sound, the likes of which we haven’t heard on the Wight before.
Playing to a mixed crowd, they certainly impressed the audience, which ranged from nippers to pensioners.
The GPT used the opportunity yesterday to launch their new EP, produced by the Homes brothers (aka Jackson Analogue) with artwork by Danny Colson (from Goodbye Stereo). At just £3, it’s great value and we’re sure that they’ll have plenty available at their next gig.
