Thanks to George for sharing details of this rather hairy sounding rescue. Ed
A yacht called Tigress ran out of fight in mid-Solent in the early hours of Monday morning, resulting in Cowes lifeboat going to its rescue.
The 25 foot Tigress, with two people aboard, had radioed Solent Coastguards for help just after 3am when it suffered engine failure in the area of Ryde Middle.
After battling through a strong south-westerly and heavy seas the lifeboat eventually towed the boat to Shepards Wharf Marina, Cowes.
The lifeboat, launched at 3.15am, returned to station about half an hour later.
