Every year Earl Mountbatten Hospice holds an open-air memorial service in Ventnor Harbour to remember those who are sadly no longer with us.
This year’s service is held on Saturday 4th August, starting at 8pm.
This moving service includes hymns, prayers and inspirational readings, and offers a moment of reflection during the busy summer season.
A poignant scene
This year’s service is presided over by David Tamcken, and will include readings from staff, supporters and friends from the hospice.
There is a moments pause in the service where we remember the names dedicated and light a candle for each one, which is placed along the harbour wall.
This sets a poignant scene with the candles glowing in the dusk and out to sea.
Dedicate a candle
The Harbour Light up a Life Service is open to all, and people can dedicate a candle in memory of a loved one either by calling the Fundraising Office on (01983) 528989, or on the night by seeing a hospice representative before the service.
Candles can be dedicated for a minimum suggested donation of £10, you will then receive a numbered certificate showing where your candle is positioned around the harbour.
