We are investigating a burglary at a home in Newport Road in Cowes that occurred between 10pm on Sunday, November 1 and 12pm on Monday, November 9.
Several items of jewellery were stolen.
We suspect that the offender walked into the house via an open door.
Sentimental value
The jewellery taken included a gold locket containing photographs with an inscription of ‘Esmond,’ a gold gate bracelet with square links and Chinese writing along with a pair of gold diamond cut earrings.
The locket is particularly unique and described by the owner as having priceless sentimental value.
The inscription ‘Esmond’ is in reference to the owner’s late brother who was killed in a motorbike accident in 1972. The photographs contained within the locket are of the owner’s brother and her late mother, who wore the locket until she passed.

Police Constable Chris Worsfold from the Isle of Wight Investigations Team said:
“This is a great loss to the owner due to the sentimental value of the jewellery. I am appealing to anyone who was in the Newport Road area of Cowes between these dates who saw anyone suspicious to get in contact with us.
“Not only that, I am looking to hear from anyone who may have been offered this jewellery recently. Please call 101 quoting 44150393796.”
