It’s just over three weeks since well-known library campaigner from Crystal Palace was last seen.
Robert ‘Robbie Gibson travelled to the Isle of Wight on 13th June and CCTV footage captured him in Shanklin Co-op the same day, but he has not been seen since.
Robbie’s disappearance is considered extremely out of character, and his family and friends are concerned that he was in a “vulnerable headspace” at the time of going missing.
He visited the Island often and enjoyed camping in the Shanklin area. Friends have travelled to the Island in the last three weeks to search for Robbie and hand out posters and leaflets in the hope that someone may have seen him.
Joe Duggan, who has been involved in the search said,
“Robbie’s family, his friends, and the wider Crystal Palace community that value the great work he has done as a library campaigner, would just love to know that he is safe and well. We are getting increasingly concerned.”
Community champion
Robbie is well known for his work to save his local library in Upper Norwood, South London, from closure, and was one of several people who occupied the threatened Carnegie Library, South London, for nine days during April this year.
He’s also very active in local community garden activity, helping set-up the ‘Sensible Garden’ in South Norwood, South-East London in 2014, named after local punk star “Captain Sensible” who came along to open the garden (see below). The Garden won a Croydon Champions Award in 2015.
