Next Wednesday afternoon sees the first meeting of the Health and Community Wellbeing Scrutiny Panel of 2012.
There are several items of interest on the agenda.
Lisa Cook, The Care Quality Commission’s Compliance Manager for the South East, will give an overview of the role of the Commission as outlined in its publication “A Guide for Local Councillors”.
Under the umbrella of ‘Health Scrutiny’, Carol Alstrom, Chief Nurse and Director of Infection Prevention and Control Care Quality Commission Review of St Mary’s Hospital will be available to answer questions as panel members consider actions arising from the review of compliance, undertaken by the Care Quality Commission, at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport on 13 September 2011.
Mortality data
Dr Mark Pugh, Medical Director, will be briefing the panel on recent issues relating to the mortality data for St Mary’s Hospital.
Panel members will also be asked to consider the suggested priorities for inclusion within the NHS Isle of Wight Quality Account for 2012/13.
Specifically, they’ll be considering Supporting Older and
Vulnerable Residents and Housing and Homelessness on the Island.
Public questions welcome
In addition to public question time, the panel will also be given the opportunity to comment on the proposed budget savings for services within the Panel’s remit.
The meeting is open to the public and takes place at County Hall from 5pm.
