The Met office has issued a ‘Be Alert’ weather warning for the Isle of Wight today (Tuesday).
Some parts of the Island have already seen short bursts of heavy rain, but the Met Office say from 6pm today until 10am tomorrow (Wednesday) we can expect more.
The warning reads:
Scattered showers will become more frequent and increasingly organised into a longer spell of rain through Tuesday evening before gradually clearing eastward during Wednesday morning.
15-25 mm of rain is expected fairly widely but there is a chance that 50-60 mm could fall in a few places; these higher accumulations more likely across east Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and west Kent.
What to expect
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
