A mother from Portsmouth is fighting for the return of her two children after they were abducted by their father nearly four years ago.
It’s been 16 months since Lacey Plato last saw her two children, 10 year old Aishah and seven year old Faris, who have been living in her husband’s native country of Oman since July 2012.
Her ex-partner Usama Al Barwani is currently serving a four year prison sentence in the UK for the abduction, but Lacey hasn’t seen or been allowed contact with her children for the last 16 months.
Appeal to Government
Lacey is calling on the British government to do more to help secure the return of her children.
On Wednesday morning Lacey appeared on breakfast TV (watch here) to share her story.
She told the presenters that her ex-partner, who the judge said will remain in prison until her children are returned to the UK, will not pass over any details about where her children are, who is looking after them or whether they are healthy and well.
Lacey and her father have both tried to bring the children back from Oman, but Lacey had a harassment order placed on her so cannot enter the country. Her father was arrested and detained in Oman for many weeks.
Sign the petition
Lacey has set up an online petition calling on the UK Government to help bring her children home.
The deadline for signatures is 19 April and Lacey hopes to get at least 10,000 signatures (currently standing at 6,644) which will force the government to respond.
