Next month see the return of Heritage Open Days to the Island. The event is organised each year to celebrate architecture and culture.
Taking place between 10am-4pm on 10-13 September, Ryde Heritage Social Group will be presenting a number of exhibitions at St Thomas’ Church in Ryde.
There will be two main exhibitions, The Lords of the Manor and St Thomas’ Church’ by Roy Brinton as well as ‘Non-conformist Churches and Chapels of Ryde’ by Tony Gale.
Other exhibitors include the 2nd Ryde Sea Scouts, Ryde Lawn Mead Club, Wootton Bridge Historical Group, Ryde Social Heritage Group, St Helen’s Historical Group, Carisbrooke Castle Museum and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
As well as the day exhibitions (free admission), there are two special free evening events.
Thursday 10th September 7pm
Garlands for a Lady – a concert by Andrew Pellow and friends and the Arthur Dunford String Quartet
Friday 11th September – 7.30pm
St Thomas’ Through the Ages
An illustrated talk by Roy Brinton
Both events are free, but donations gratefully accepted on the door.
