Hitching For LINK Community Development

Some of you may remember the plan for three Islanders to hitch hike their way from the UK to Morocco next year.

The reason for their intrepid journey is to raise money for LINK Community Development, a charity that works on improving the quality of education in rural areas of Ethiopia, South Africa, Uganda, Malawi and Ghana.

The money raised would help to ensure that children in these countries are receiving a quality education.

Hitching 1,400 miles
The team will be setting off in April 2012 and intend to hitch-hike the 1,400 miles to Morocco. They’re meeting in London and will officially start their journey from there, heading down to Portsmouth, across to France, working their way down to Gibraltar, hop on a ferry across to Morocco where they will complete their challenge.

Ellie reckons it should take about eight days of charming lorry drivers, talking their way (in very very broken French/Spanish) into the backs of cars and sleeping on uncomfortable service station chairs!

If you’re able to donate something to help them on the challenge and provide funding for the very worthy cause, pop over to Ellie’s JustGiving page.
